I was recently asked to conduct a review by The Olive Table (www.theolivetable.com). The name alone made me both hungry and excited to try this new brand. I was happy to learn that the company not only specialized in olive oils but also in a product that I recommend for everyone…honey!!

Honey is a sweet food and has approximately the same sweetness as sugar but has traditionally been used to treat many ailments such as the common cold, allergies and more (as seen in my previous blog posts (http://suzyeats.com/a-spoonful-of-honey-a-day-keeps-the-doctor-away/)

I did a little research and found that The Olive Table launched their first product in 2012, and that their olive oil is from Greece! Greek olive oil traditionally has a strong aroma and flavor and is usually a greenish color; it is one of my absolute favorites. The Olive Table prides themselves on creating “the highest quality olive oil with exceptional taste and health benefits” and on providing “honey that is raw and 100% natural”. We recently reviewed Lentil Chips, Hummus Chips and get ready for this….Pomegranate Chips from Simply 7 Snacks !!! I could make my review very simple and just write AMAZING. Because they all tasted great!! My ultimate favorite was the sea salt lentil chips. These are definitely the BEST tasting lentil chips I have ever had. They are very light and make a great snack!!!

All of these snacks offer a healthy alternative to the potato chip. They offer more fiber and a variety of flavors so you do not get bored. In addition, they are also Kosher!!! They have a free dip recipe on the back of each package!

Mediterranean Lentil Chips Review

The THREE Mediterranean Snack Food Co. (http://www.mediterraneansnackfoods.com/)  baked lentil chips that we tested included cucumber dill, sea salt and sea salt & cracked pepper. For people on the go who are looking for healthy alternatives to traditional potato chips, these baked lentil chips are the answer. They will give you less fat, more fiber and a better taste. They are excellent for dipping, topping and snacking. I have to be honest when I first heard “lentil chips”, I was a little nervous but I can definitely say they taste amazing!!! and are healthy 🙂

Now what about the Olive Factor?

The Mediterranean Snack Food Co prides themself in old world tradition and value the nutritional balance of all their products. Why is this important? From a scientific perspective, lentils are much healthier than a traditional fried chip. They are all gluten free and provide an excellent amount of fiber. More fiber=less cancer and digestive problems. Baked lentil chips also have ~70% less fat than regular potato chips so choose wisely! 

If you compare lentil chips to your traditional brand of Cheetos….there are some major differences. Cheetos have more fat, a smaller serving size, more sodium and no fiber.
