The Olive Table Review: Olive Oil and Honey
Top Mediterranean Diet Reviews | Online Diet ReviewsI was recently asked to conduct a review by The Olive Table (www.theolivetable.com). The name alone made me both hungry and excited to try this new brand. I was happy to learn that the company not only specialized in olive oils but also in a product that I recommend for everyone…honey!!
Honey is a sweet food and has approximately the same sweetness as sugar but has traditionally been used to treat many ailments such as the common cold, allergies and more (as seen in my previous blog posts (http://suzyeats.com/a-spoonful-of-honey-a-day-keeps-the-doctor-away/)
I did a little research and found that The Olive Table launched their first product in 2012, and that their olive oil is from Greece! Greek olive oil traditionally has a strong aroma and flavor and is usually a greenish color; it is one of my absolute favorites. The Olive Table prides themselves on creating “the highest quality olive oil with exceptional taste and health benefits” and on providing “honey that is raw and 100% natural”. We tasted The Olive Table’s Organic Early Harvest Olive EVOO and the Private Reserve Greek Olive Oil. We also tasted three different honeys: Fir of Vytina, Orange Blossom, and Pine.
The Olive Factor Results are below:
Olive Oil
I definitely believe in good olive oil versus not so good olive oil and this was definitely GOOD olive oil. You can taste and smell the difference in quality with this brand.
Private Reserve EVOO-
The Olive Factor: 5 [xrr 5/5]
This olive oil is amazing. My family and I have been pairing it with zaatar (middle eastern thyme mixture) every morning for breakfast. I would recommend it for anyone looking for fresh, strong and flavorful olive oil.

Organic Early Harvest EVOO-
The Olive Factor: 5 [xrr 5/5]
This olive oil is made from handpicked, green olives early in the season. You can taste the slightly bitter, fruity flavor of this olive oil. The taste of this oil stands out alone. If you are looking for an organic olive oil, this is definitely one I would recommend.
Honey
If you are looking for REAL unadulterated honey, then you have come to the right place. The Olive Table makes honey that has not been filtered, processed or heat-treated. It is of the highest quality, and I will say that as soon as you taste it, you will recognize the freshness.
Pine-This honey is collected from the forests of Greece. It has a lower total sugar content than flower honey. The taste is quite strong, bold and woody.
The Olive Factor: 4 [xrr 4/5]
Orange Blossom This is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE; It is probably the BEST honey I have ever tried!! It tastes so good it makes you wonder if it is really honey. It has a very mild, fruity taste. The hint of orange blossom ensures that it is an antioxidant, and I believe it is what puts it over the top in terms of its taste and quality.
The Olive Factor: 5 [xrr 5/5]
Fir of Vytina- This honey is from the mountains in Greece. It has a woody flavor. It tastes slightly more bitter. The Olive Company states that this honey is rich in iron and calcium and has a lower total sugar content compared to flower honey.
